Luckily, it’s one of my favorite John Lennon tunes.

So, here I am. Starting over.

Somewhere in the transition to this new world, it seems that I have lost a lot of comments along the way. Comments I treasured. And loved. And reread when I was in doubt. My counter says 550+ from my year-and-a-half stint over at Life, Liberty and the Pursuit…but alas that’s a mostly empty folder, and it’s my word against Word Press.

So, I start over. And it’s all good.

Let’s get down to business – why name this new place Shades of Blue and Green? I know, an odd choice that needs explaining. It breaks about a dozen Marketing 101 rules – too long, too contrived, too nebulous – allow me to shed some light.

During my prep time before the move, I read back through all my posts. I dumped the ridiculous (who me?), the somewhat controversial (oh my!), the phoned-it-in (oh yeah, I did.). What I found though, something I had been missing by not revisiting before, was how much I had changed. Through writing, through all of you out there really, I discovered the end of my initial pursuit of appreciating my own pasture. I got the bitching and the moaning and the whahhing out my system, and now (mostly) stop looking over neighbors’ fences and around corners. Good is here.

Knock on wood, of course.

Little boys. Mood swings. My first true love, the ocean. Kudzu. Pine trees. My evil nemisis on the ropes, Sin #2 envy. These are the shades of blue and green that color the view of my present world.

And for that, I am grateful.

I know it’s going to take some time for me to be comfortable here, to settle in, to feel at home. And seriously, I’m thinking I at least need a throw pillow or something. All this white is driving me nuts.

I liked the blog name right away, not contrived at all.

I’d be seriously bummed if my comments got lost, good thing I’m too lazy to switch from Blogger.

First you lose all your shows on your DVR and now you lose all your comments. Ugh! You seem to be handing it very well though…..I would be in the corner crying.

BTW….blue and green are two of my favorite colors…right after purple. I know, that is totally useful info but I just wanted to throw it out there =D

I think “Shades of Blue and Green” is a lovely name/title. I love that we get to see the face behind the blog. I understand the need for the comments (I tried to switch to wp but gave it up cuz I lost a lot of what I loved when I left blogger. But there is so much to love about wordpress).

You write about things in such a relatable way and I see that more and more people are finding you! Let’s see what was that about that sin #2? I seem to feeling some of that now. :-)

ha. I get the ‘throw pillow’ thing. I feel the need to decorate daily.

xoxo

Get that throw pillow and add a drink to it and you are good to go!

Oh, don’t add the drink to the throw pillow, I meant add a drink the the entire “scene” (ie: drink in hand!).

Isn’t it funny how change can make us excited, happy, and yet uncertain all at the same time? Remember who you write for! The comments are great, but they do not make the blog. You do. And that’s why we all keep coming back! If it were just about the comments, I’d be in a corner crying daily! :o )

It IS a tad “snowblinding” here. heh. I gotta wear shades.

I look forward to reading more from you. I’ve been away too long and I’ve missed your wit.

Ash,

You are one of my favorites!! Keep your chin up, sister…I have a feeling that the change will be good for you. I can’t wait to see more of your world through your aquamarine-colored glasses. It’s beautiful.

Lotsa love,
Erin

WordPress ate a bunch of my comments in my move too. Although I am pretty sure I started moving before you and you have finished your move and are getting settled in way before me. We’ll all just have to get to work getting your comments numbers back to appropriate levels.

I started going through a bunch of my posts and I was feeling like so much of what was there was not who I am now. I struggle with deleting though because after all I am “Evolving Mommy.”

Hey HEY! Good to ‘see’ you! I like you’re new place here. And of course I love the pic in your header. We’re going there in about 8 weeks and I cannot WAIT! And now it’s a shorter drive – ha!

Now I gotta go change you on my blog roll… :)

I feel that same way. I am glad that I moved but there are just some things that annoy me like home loan spam.

And don’t you have all your comments in your email? I lost about 3/4 of mine during my move but they are still all in my inbox.

Here is a comment for you – love it, love it, love it! You are a wonderful writer and someday I hope to read the full fiction version (of course before it goes to print). Your blogs always make me smile.

I like the blog name!

Just because the comments are gone, doesn’t mean the readers are! ;)

I like the name – but of course when asked my favorite colors I choose blue & green. I hated it when they tell me that I must choose 1. How dare they – so I then say blueish-green.

But I’m excited to follow you on your new adventure – I to have a love of the ocean, kudzu & all other things southern.

Sorry about the lost comments, it nice to go back & reread them, so we’ll all just have to give you new ones.

I love that a bit of your writing process is showing through your words on this post — there’s an unself-consciousness to your self-consciousness that feels right. I’m excited for you and look forward to what’s next.

I like the name of your new blog, to me I thought of ocean and sky and pastures and trees. But of course I like your references too ; -)

Enjoyed hearing some of the story behind the change. Am curious how you like wordpress…

Sheesh, now I feel the need to change my blog name. I am not that deep or intuitive about myself, so I’ll just stick with what I’ve got.

It’s good to “know” you “Ash.

Hmmmmm….I hadn’t thought about losing the comments. Interesting. Very interesting. Aren’t they all in your inbox anyway? You can print them from there and uh, tape them on your walls?

:-)

I know it takes some adjust but I feel pretty comfortable around here already.

I recently made the move away from Blogger, and yeah, WP does not get most of the comments – though for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why.

Still, here’s to exciting new beginnings!

Love the new name and the new location (I’m a wordpress lover myself!)

Best of luck, here in your new home! (I baked cookies to celebrate, yum…they’re good!)
