I have a dear friend. Well, I’d actually call her a cheerleader really, now that I think back over the 20 years I’ve been blessed to have her in my life.
Without her, I wouldn’t of had the faith to close the door on a broken heart. Without her, I wouldn’t of had the courage to ask Hubs out on our first date. Without her, I would’ve had snot running down my face in front of God and everyone at my wedding (thanks again for the dainty hankie pass).
She nudges. She supports. She defends. She rocks.
I’d like to think all the mothering I required throughout college prepared her in some way for her current position of Mama of Four (more likely her stellar parents), but I imagine nothing could have prepared her for the curve thrown
at her when son Reid was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three.
Reid’s Uncle (Matt Hollas) is now stepping up to the plate in order to raise awareness and funds for The Autism Society of Colorado (ASC). On September 11-12, Matt will ride his bike for 24 hours, with all proceeds going directly to ASC. His personal goal – to ride 300 to 400 miles over the course of the event, located in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Better eat your Wheaties, Matt Man.
Please take a few moments and click here to learn further details and what Matt hopes to accomplish. Even if you cannot donate, please hit the link if you have a second – every hit helps in the effort to gain sponsors for next year’s event.
And if you can donate, please make sure to note “Reid’s Ride” in the comment section of the donation link.
Thank you so much. May the day come soon when Autism is a thing of the past.
Update: Please know, that there is a 2:1 grant tied to all donations, so your $50 donation is actually valued at $150.

You are a dear, sweet person!
I love you!
You are such a wonderful friend and Matt is a wonderful uncle. What a worthy cause this is, autism is such a prevalent issue especially it seems with boys and there needs to be so very much more done to understand why it now affects so very many children. I am so very sorry for your friend and I hope Reid gets the help he needs.
I know all too well what you are talking about. NOTHING prepares a parent for autism, esp because there are so many levels and it is such a closed off feeling as a parent … it’s very lonely
I will def. click on the link. I wish i could donate, but with Russ losing his job, who knows where we’ll be.
We love you Ash.

This is so amazing of him to do. Autism is so scary. We’re struggling with vaccination decisions right now, and it’s so hard to know what to do!
What an amazing uncle!
Beautiful loving post. Good luck with this, Matt. You may need more than Wheaties!
We are pleased to send a donation to help in supporting Matt for Reid’s Ride. We love you Reid’s mama.
